Welcome to Anchor Baptist Church Church

What we believe

Statement of Faith

Anchor Baptist Church | Biddeford, Maine

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and preserved Word of God. We use the King James Version and take the Bible literally, not as allegory or fable. It is our final authority in all matters of faith and life.

God & Salvation

We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the full payment for our sins, and rose again on the third day.

Salvation is by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ and His shed blood. A person is saved only by placing their faith in Christ—not by good works or religious rituals.

Baptism & the Lord’s Supper

After salvation, believers are commanded to be baptized by immersion, showing outwardly what has already taken place inwardly.

We observe the Lord’s Supper regularly as a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice—not to obtain salvation, but to give thanks for it.

The Church

We believe the local church is God’s ordained institution for believers to gather, grow, serve, and carry out the Great Commission. The church should be the moral conscience of the community and a spiritual hospital for the broken.

The only requirements for membership are salvation and baptism by immersion. Membership may be by profession of faith and baptism, transfer from another Baptist church, or testimony of salvation and baptism by immersion from a church of like faith.

The Family

We believe the family is the first institution God created, and a strong, healthy home is vital to society. Our church ministries aim to support and strengthen the family, and we are committed to protecting children and guiding parents with Biblical truth.

The Christian Life

We believe that Christians should strive to live holy lives that reflect Christ. This includes godly behavior, modest dress, clean speech, and separation from worldly influences. Our standards in music, lifestyle, and conduct are based on Scripture, not cultural trends.

The Great Commission

We believe it is the church’s responsibility to spread the Gospel both locally and globally.

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” — Matthew 28:19–20

Our Purpose

We believe the church is not a museum for saints but a hospital for sinners. Every believer is called to participate in the work of God—not just to observe.

We make no apology for believing that God’s work is the greatest work in the world.
